The venture, headquartered in Santa Monica, made the announcement this week as part of efforts to cultivate a stronger user base and community presence across Europe while solidifying its broader global expansion strategy.
The Stockholm launch arrives shortly after Everipedia's August network activation, which introduced its novel economic model. Contributors who author and refine encyclopedia entries receive IQ tokens in compensation, tokens that simultaneously function as governance instruments, enabling holders to weigh in on strategic decisions and protocol matters. This architecture fundamentally reimagines how knowledge repositories operate, embedding financial incentives into the contribution process itself.
Everipedia's IQ token currently holds the distinction of being the highest-valued asset on the EOS blockchain, commanding a $100 million market valuation and representing the single largest initiative deployed on the EOS network. The platform reports serving millions of monthly active users and housing beyond 6 million individual articles, already surpassing the volume of English Wikipedia. What began in 2015 as an attempt to build a more inclusive and contemporary knowledge platform has matured into a fully decentralized wiki infrastructure backed by blockchain technology.
Leveraging blockchain's technical properties, Everipedia has engineered a system resistant to censorship and external control. Articles exist across a blockchain rather than within any single authority's servers, eliminating traditional pressure points for suppression. The decentralized design simultaneously enables the platform to abandon conventional models dependent on advertising revenue or donor contributions, instead aligning reward structures with those generating and stewarding information.
Wikipedia founder Larry Sanger stepped into the role of chief information officer in December 2017, lending his expertise and credibility to accelerate the platform's momentum. Galaxy Digital's EOS.IO Ecosystem Fund provided $30 million in Series A capital this February, supplying the financial resources necessary to support expansion initiatives worldwide.
