CasinoFair, a new online casino, went live on FunFair's blockchain platform this week, marking the first operational casino to use the network's technology. FunFair built software that lets casino operators set up games on the blockchain with lower overhead costs and faster implementation than traditional approaches.
The platform centers on Fate Channels, proprietary software that FunFair designed to address performance bottlenecks plaguing Ethereum-based casinos. The channels generate random numbers in real time through collaboration between player and house, process game interactions, and handle the small payments that flow through sessions without overwhelming the main network.
Jez San, FunFair's founder, told MiningPool that skepticism about fairness has long kept people away from traditional online casinos. "This issue is no longer relevant with a FunFair-powered casino such as CasinoFair, which guarantees every deal of a card, the spin of a reel or roll of a dice is exactly as it should have been, using the blockchain for transparency and security. Players can no longer be cheated as they hold full control of their funds, and we believe that for these reasons, the potential market for a quality blockchain casino is vast," he said.
CasinoFair operates as a licensed casino and commits to proving its games are fair and protecting players. The platform holds player funds in escrow during play and releases the money immediately when a session ends. FunFair argues that the decentralized structure and smart contracts powering the network offer stronger security than the private servers that run most commercial casinos.
To play on CasinoFair, users need to buy FUN tokens through exchanges and deposit them into a wallet on the platform. Once funded, they can access a library of games, including FunFair's Fate of Thrones and standard offerings like Blackjack. The platform plans to let players fund accounts with traditional currency at a later date.
"With more games and even more functionality and usability in the FunFair pipeline, CasinoFair will only get bigger and better, as we evolve from offering a service to the crypto community to the gaming mass market," San said.
For now, CasinoFair serves players in Canada, Switzerland, Finland, and Norway. San said more territories will open in the future.
