London-based blockchain technology investment and development firm Coinsilium will be hosting its first Blockchain Tech Lab, a week-long event taking place at Runway East at Finsbury Square in London between April 11 and 17, 2016. Coinsilium made headlines in December last year when it became the first blockchain technology group to be listed on the ICAP Securities and Derivatives Trading platform (ISDX) Growth Market in London. The firm is now focused on bridging the blockchain skills gap, announcing last week Blockchain Tech Lab. The week-long event will be entirely dedicated to the developers community which will be given the opportunity to learn from prominent blockchain experts during developer-focused sessions. Runway East in London, Blockchain Tech Lab Venue Hakim Mamoni, CTO of Coinsilium, noted that “given the growing skills gap across all industries that are currently looking at blockchain technology, the event will serve as a way for developers to familiarize themselves with the technology and to practice their latest skills and understanding.” Experts from Blockstream, Ethcore, Rootstock, Accessible Asset Protocol and Factom will be hosting sessions each dedicated to one specialty. On Monday April 11, Blockstream and Rootstock will host a session dedicated to the Bitcoin blockchain. Montreal-based Blockstream will give a presentation of the Bitcoin blockchain and provide a step-by-step guide to the process of creating a sidechain. The afternoon session will be hosted by RootStock, which will present its sidechain technology and its smart contract capabilities. On Tuesday, Ethcore will host a session focused on the Ethereum blockchain. The morning session will be dedicated to the Ethereum blockchain and its consensus mechanism, while the after session will be focused on the Ethereum Virtual Machine and smart contracts. On Wednesday, a course dedicated to private blockchains will be hosted by Openchain. Thursday will be dedicated to assets and data with presentations by Public Assets Protocol and Factom. Finally, Friday will be dedicated to securitization. The morning session will be hosted by Rivetz which will present its Trusted Execution Environment to build secure blockchain applications, while the afternoon session will be dedicated to Ledger’s hardware solutions. Starting from Friday evening, a blockchain hackathon, or ‘blockathon,’ made up of Innovation Challenges will be accessible to the public to participate. Blockathon teams will consists of 3 to 5 people which will take on Innovation Challenges using blockchain solutions. The blockathon will be held at Silk Ventures, in Level39 in Canary Wharf.
