At the 2018 Web Summit, several major blockchain firms are seizing the opportunity to distribute complimentary crypto to thousands of attendees. The conference has assembled prominent speakers such as Medium's Ev Williams, Ben Silbermann from Pinterest, along with executives spanning the technology industry, venture capitalists, and emerging companies. Leading the cryptocurrency initiative is Blockchain, a major wallet provider partnering with the Stellar Development Foundation—creators of the Stellar lumens token—to give away $125 million in digital assets to participants holding Blockchain wallets. Stellar has earned considerable acclaim for enabling rapid transfers with minimal fees.

Additional platforms are capitalizing on the event to drive mainstream crypto adoption. Bitcoin.com is distributing prepaid cards preloaded with $2 in Bitcoin Cash, supplemented by educational resources covering blockchain fundamentals and wallet setup. Similarly, Bitstamp, the Luxembourg-based exchange, is deploying an interactive experience called Cryptomyths—a gamified quiz addressing common misconceptions about digital assets. Participants completing the challenge receive a $10 voucher redeemable upon their initial Bitstamp transaction.

The social trading network eToro is also making waves with its newly unveiled digital asset wallet. The platform's fresh mobile offering will reward the first 100,000 downloaders with 0.1 ETH apiece. The wallet enables direct cryptocurrency purchases through eToro's interface and currently supports Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum and Litecoin holdings.
