A blockchain-powered transportation network called DACSEE (Decentralized Alternative Cabs Serving & Empowering Everyone) made its market entrance this week by releasing a consumer mobile app in Malaysia. The platform, which aims to disrupt ride-sharing across Asia, unveiled its Android application on Wednesday with an iOS version following on April 27.

The firm plans to expand into Indonesia, Thailand, and China within the next several months. Prior to today's public rollout, DACSEE ran a closed testing phase in Kuala Lumpur involving verified drivers and passengers. During this trial, users could examine ride details, establish connections, and manage their social networks through a "Circle of Friends" function. Drivers gained the ability to filter requests, while passengers could either specify a preferred driver or summon rides from within their contact network.

What sets DACSEE apart from existing competitors is its fee structure. Traditional ride-share platforms extract 20-25% from driver earnings, whereas DACSEE operates on just 1-2% of fares. The fundamental innovation involves using blockchain to eliminate intermediaries entirely. A peer-to-peer architecture ensures that commissions flow back into the ecosystem—going to drivers, passengers, and local municipalities rather than corporate coffers. The system allocates these redistributed earnings based on several criteria: user reputation scores, tenure, total rides completed, and the strength of one's social circle on the platform.

An Ethereum token underpins all transactions on DACSEE. While drivers must hold the native token to operate on the system, passengers retain the option to pay using conventional currency. Every transaction gets permanently recorded on the blockchain, providing transparency to all network participants.

Before this week's launch, DACSEE had already enlisted over 30,000 drivers signing up across the region. The startup previously secured US$25 million through funding rounds beginning in December 2017, money designated for scaling operations and technological advancement.

The timing proves significant. Southeast Asia's transportation sector is experiencing explosive growth, led by Grab, the region's most prominent ride-sharing venture. The company commands a US$6 billion valuation, with approximately 90 million downloads, 5 million active driver and agent accounts, and 5 million daily commuters as of this month. Grab recently diversified into financial services, rolling out Grab Financial in March to deliver payment solutions, lending, and insurance offerings.
