Zcash lets users shield the details of their transactions through cryptography, a privacy feature that distinguishes it from Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies that record sender and receiver addresses on public ledgers.

Yoni Assia, co-founder and CEO at eToro, explained the platform's approach to adding new cryptocurrencies. "It is not surprising that others have taken on some of the core ideas behind Bitcoin and developed new payment networks with additional features – in the case of Zcash – privacy. We are excited to offer ZEC to eToro investors as they seek to diversify their crypto assets holdings."

Guy Hirsch, eToro's managing director for the United States, told MiningPool about the decision. "eToro is always looking for top ranking crypto assets to include on our platform. Beyond market capitalization and traded volume, having a strong product roadmap and clear use case are key factors in our decision to list a new token. Zcash has both of these; the talented team behind the project and privacy capabilities were key factors in our decision to offer it on our platform."

The cryptocurrency joins eToro's CryptoPortfolio feature, which allows investors to hold multiple digital assets in one account. Last year, eToro became the first exchange to list Binance Coin outside Binance itself, bringing the platform's total cryptocurrency options to 13. The company also cut trading fees to attract more investors to digital assets.
