Facebook announced Libra. Corporate interest in blockchain surged. On August 20, Spark Blockchain and Microsoft's NERD Center hosted a career fair in Boston that drew over 300 developers and job seekers. More than 10 blockchain companies participated. They included Chainlink, ConsenSys, Tezos, Cambridge Blockchain, Sia, BitShares, Assetblock, Elphi, U.S. Blockchain, and Block Kingdom. They advertised 100+ open positions across technology, business development, branding, and community operations.

Tezos Common, a major Tezos foundation in North America, drew hundreds of candidates interested in community-building roles. BitShares attracted developers curious about its graphene-based technical architecture. Cambridge Blockchain showcased its work on digital identity and privacy using blockchain, a combination that attracted engineers with finance backgrounds. Elphi presented its mortgage blockchain applications. Spark Blockchain's booth drew those focused on connecting U.S. and Chinese crypto communities.

Four industry leaders discussed blockchain communities: Joe Zhou, CEO of FirstBlood; Kenneth Garofalo, Boston Chapter President of Tezos Common; James Moreau, Senior Support Engineer at ConsenSys; and Charles Li, Managing Director of Spark Blockchain. Moreau said that every blockchain project depends on multiple roles: coders, product managers, and community advocates. Each role maps to a job opening. Zhou, drawing on his experience in gaming communities, stressed the importance of reaching users through the right channels.

Brendan Magauran, Director of Operations at Chainlink, told candidates to develop strong learning ability, initiative, and quick response skills as the blockchain sector transforms. William Lopez-Cordero, Co-founder of Elphi, Brian Gong, Community Manager of DCU FinTech Innovation Center, and Yige Wan, Director of Media Relations at U.S. Blockchain, shared their views. Wan recommended Cointelegraph and CoinDesk for blockchain news and GitHub for developers to study blockchain source code. Gong advised entrepreneurs to find where blockchain could solve problems in existing industries.

The career fair brought companies and job seekers together. The turnout exceeded the organizers' expectations. Manasi, Product Strategy Manager at Nebulous, said the company received nearly 50 high-quality developer resumes from the event and plans to participate in future Spark Blockchain career fairs and networking events.

Microsoft's NERD Center, Women in Boston Blockchain, the Boston Chinese Investment Club, and Necina all supported the event. Charles Li, Managing Director of Spark Blockchain, said the company will continue developing the North American blockchain community and strengthening connections between crypto ecosystems in China and North America. Spark Blockchain is also organizing two upcoming events: the 2019 DeFi & Blockchain Summit in New York and the 2019 Blockchain Gaming & Digital Asset Summit.
