IndieSquare and EverdreamSoft have joined forces to launch a blockchain gaming platform arriving in September. IndieSquare manages Counterparty wallets and APIs, providing backend infrastructure for crypto-based applications. EverdreamSoft, based in Switzerland, created the trading card game Spells of Genesis. Together, they're building tools for developers to construct games on Bitcoin's blockchain using the Counterparty protocol.

The platform includes a mobile app for collecting and managing in-game items, plus an application programming interface for developers to handle token creation and ownership. "By combining IndieSquare's Counterparty API services with EverdreamSoft's easy to use dashboard for game management and asset registration, we will enable a new wave of developers to utilize blockchain game items planting the seed for a generation of games and applications with interoperable assets and items," the partners said in a joint statement.

The companies are forming a joint venture focused on game item interoperability, allowing items earned in one game to work and trade in another.

Force of Will, a Japanese card game operating across 30 countries, committed to the platform with 100,000 players in its community. Its online simulator, Force of Will Battle Simulator, launches in September alongside the platform, with in-game items tokenized on the blockchain like those in Spells of Genesis.

CEO Eiji Shishido credited blockchain's borderless properties. "The borderless nature of blockchain technology inspired us," he said. "The concept of Force of Will is 'connecting the world' and there is much similarity there." Force of Will had never existed as an online game, Shishido explained, but blockchain created an opening. "We wanted to offer FoW players a whole new experience and the new value proposition based on the cutting edge technology," he said.

Koji Higashi, Counterparty's community director and an IndieSquare co-founder, sees gaming as a natural fit for blockchain adoption. "Gaming is one field where applying blockchain technology makes a lot of sense and regular users can immediately benefit," he said. Interest has surged in recent months, Higashi said, but barriers remain steep for developers without blockchain knowledge. The new platform aims to remove those hurdles by combining Counterparty's proven infrastructure with EverdreamSoft's straightforward token management interface.

Shaban Shaame, EverdreamSoft's founder, emphasized how blockchain changes digital asset ownership. "Blockchain asset give the ability to create a 'digital capital' arising from owning digital game asset," he said. Players care about ownership. "Giving players 'true ownership' of their digital assets is a significant advantage for a game publisher over another game," Shaame said. "I think in few years no one will likely buy something in an online game that doesn't give ownership back to the purchaser."
