The company launched its blockchain-based crowdfunding campaign on January 8, 2015. The fundraising period will conclude before SendChat activates the cryptocurrency features. The team published its white paper for public review.
To transfer cryptocurrency between users, both parties must install SendChat. When a SendChat user sends Bitcoin to someone on Telegram, that Telegram user receives a notification and must download SendChat to claim the payment. The app runs on iOS, Android, Mac, Windows, Linux, and smartwatches.
SendChat built its infrastructure on the same open source foundation as Telegram, which serves 50 million users. The SendChat team is working with BlockTrust, a blockchain crowdfunding platform and project certification service, to oversee the campaign. BlockTrust implements multi-signature escrow, defined timelines, and formal guidelines to ensure professional execution. SendChat also engaged Amazon EC2's DDoS mitigation service to protect the network.
Users can sell cryptocurrencies within the app. Proceeds go into a private account, from which users can withdraw via a MasterCard debit card or through SEPA, EFT, ACH, and Swift transfers. SendChat supports thirty fiat currencies, letting people operate in their own currency. The platform supports users seeking privacy and anonymity, as well as those preferring to use traditional banking.
