Atupri Health Insurance now accepts Bitcoin and Ethereum as payment methods for premiums. The Swiss health insurer partnered with Bitcoin Suisse, a Zurich-based crypto financial services firm, to roll out the feature to its 200,000 policyholders.

Customers who choose to pay with BTC or ETH can do so through the system. Bitcoin Suisse handles the conversion, translating the cryptocurrency into Swiss francs and transferring the funds to Atupri's bank account. Atupri itself does not hold any cryptocurrencies. Customers pay all mining fees and transaction costs.

Caroline Meli, head of marketing and sales at Atupri, explained the partnership. "As digital pioneers in the healthcare sector, we anticipate social trends and offer insurance solutions with long-term prospects," she said. "Blockchain technology and the associated use of cryptocurrencies are becoming increasingly important."

Switzerland operates as a crypto hub, earning the nickname "Crypto Valley" for its widespread acceptance of cryptocurrency payments. Zermatt recently began accepting Bitcoin for municipal tax payments, highlighting how Swiss institutions are integrating cryptocurrencies into their operations.

Bitcoin Suisse, founded in 2013, operates across Switzerland, Denmark and Liechtenstein. The firm manages over $1 billion in cryptocurrency assets and describes itself as a pioneer and market leader in crypto financial services. The company expanded its service offerings in May, launching custodial and staking support for Tezos tokens and adding precious metals trading for silver, gold and platinum on its platform.

Bitcoin Suisse plans a security token offering next year and a stock exchange listing by 2022.
