Forty Seven Bank in London is launching an Open API to let outside developers build applications within its banking infrastructure. The system uses modular, domain-specific components—Account Information, Payment, Trading, and White Label APIs—to help the bank deploy new technologies faster and reshape services around customer demands.

The bank requires registration for API access. Developers create accounts and register their applications, receiving private keys that authorize requests and verify each call comes from an approved source. Forty Seven audits all infrastructure changes.

A dashboard lets developers monitor their applications' performance: installation rates, active user counts, API call volumes, and success and failure rates.

Forty Seven complies fully with PSD2, the European Commission's payment services directive, and adheres to technical standards from the European Banking Authority.
