Decree broke the news on Twitter, sharing the warning message that YouTube had sent him. "BREAKING: My #Bitcoin live stream halted and I got a warning," his tweet said. The notice spelled out the consequences for future violations. If his content breached the policy again, his channel would face a one-week ban on new uploads. A second violation would extend the restriction to two weeks. If he accumulated three strikes within a 90-day period, YouTube would remove the channel entirely from its platform.
Decree's channel houses 835 videos and has gathered 123,000 subscribers. He pushed back against YouTube's decision, arguing that his livestream had not violated any platform rules. He requested that YouTube delete the warning from his account. TeamYouTube, the platform's official support account, responded via Twitter and promised to review his appeal.
The situation recalled a previous brush with YouTube enforcement. In December 2019, the company had purged crypto-focused videos from Decree's channel with no explanation provided. He and other creators affected by the deletions received no notice before their content disappeared. The company acknowledged the removals were an error and apologized to the affected creators, including Decree. Following that incident, YouTube has sustained an ongoing campaign to remove cryptocurrency-related material across its network. The platform attributes much of this enforcement activity to the proliferation of cryptocurrency giveaway scams. These schemes operate by deceiving viewers with promises of returns in exchange for sending cryptocurrency to specific wallet addresses.
